What is a Facelift?

Facelifts smooth skin on your neck and face and tightens underlying tissues and muscles. Your heredity, bone structure, and skin texture all determine the result of a facelift.

The skin on the face is lifted from its necessary tissue, and any excess skin is taken off. The more rooted tissues are also moved to help achieve a more youthful face. If required, a tiny incision under your chin can assist the removal of fat and smooth out the cord-like structures in your neck.

Post facelift, you will experience tightness, numbness, and discolouration on your neck and face.

Your skin will stay moderately sensitive for the first two to three months, so protection from the sun is essential.

What is the process?

A consultation with the Plastic Surgeon who will undertake the operation is the first step. Once the decision is made, our therapists will prepare your skin with clinical skin treatments and medical grade skin care to give the best outcome and recovery.

The surgery is undertaken at Kawana Private Hospital and one to two night stays are recommended.

Medical staff maintain close supervision in the post-operative period with lymphatic drainage and suture removal.

Bruising and swelling will be expected.

Exercise will not be encouraged until swelling has settled, usually around the 4-6 week period.
