What is a Facelift?

Facelifts smooth skin on your lower face and tightens underlying tissues and muscles. Your heredity, bone structure, and skin texture all determine the result of a facelift. It is common for a facelift patient to also require a Necklift to meet patients expectations and cosmetic outcomes.

The skin on the face is lifted from its necessary tissue, and any excess skin is taken off. The more rooted tissues are also moved to help achieve a more youthful face. If required, a tiny incision under your chin can assist the removal of fat and smooth out the cord-like structures in your neck.

Post facelift, you will experience tightness, numbness, and discolouration on your neck and face.

What is the process?

A GP referral is the first step required for a consultation with one of our Specialist Plastic Surgeons. During the initial consultation a thorough discussion will determine the best outcome and if a Facelift is the best option for you.

The surgery is undertaken at Kawana Private Hospital and one to two night stays are recommended.

Bruising and swelling will be expected.

Exercise will not be encouraged until swelling has settled, usually around the 4-6 week period. A headband garment is required to be worn for the first 2 weeks.

What is a Blepharoplasty? (Eyelid Reduction Surgery)

Eyelid surgery, also known as a blepharoplasty, is a procedure that removes excess fatty tissue and/or loose skin surrounding the eyes to give the area a more rejuvenated appearance.

What is the process?

The aim of eyelid reduction surgery is to improve facial appearance and reduce the signs of ageing by treating:

  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
  • Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (coloured portion of the eye)
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

Eyelid reductions are one of the most common plastic surgery operations.
