Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

For Skin cancer and Cosmetic appointments, a GP referral is required before contacting rooms for an appointment. The referral will be sent to our rooms by your GP and we will contact you once it is received.

A referral from your GP is valid for 12 months.

A referral from another specialist is valid for three months. If your treatment takes longer than three months from the day you are initially seen, you will require a further referral from your specialist or your GP.

From July 1st, 2023 AHPRA have set forth new guidelines requiring all Cosmetic patients to undertake a psychological assessment to ascertain patient suitability for Cosmetic Surgery Procedures.

For non-surgical appointments You can phone us on (07) 5437 9333

Please bring you Medicare card, private health fund details if any and DVA card if applicable.

Your surgeon consultation fee will be paid at the time of consultation and if your details are registered with Medicare your Medicare refund will be done at the time of consultation.

Before your appointment with the surgeon, it is not possible for us to ascertain what surgery is required for your condition, the duration of treatment or whether an anesthetic may be required. For these reasons your initial consultation with the surgeon is just a consultation and no treatment is performed at the initial appointment.

Parking at Kawana Private Hospital is limited. Security guards are in place to help with the flow of traffic. This does hold up the parking process. We recommend you allow an additional time for parking.

We have parking easily available at our Noosa Clinic.

Plastic Surgery Queensland does offer Known gaps scheme if your health fund participates.

Uninsured patients requiring procedures in a private hospital will find that the hospital costs, surgeon fees and anesthetist fees are not entirely reimbursed by Medicare and these will therefore represent out-of-pocket expenses.

After consultation a financial quote will be explained and sent to you.

The Surgeons at Plastic Surgery Queensland are able to offer less complex procedures with local anesthetic in an operating theatre in our clinic. For uninsured patients, procedures under local anesthetic can be performed in the rooms at a reduced expense compared to operations at a private hospital if appropriate to do so.

All other procedures with an anesthetist are carried out at different hospitals depending on your surgeon.

Dr Theo Birch and Dr Livingston operate out of Kawana Private Hospital which is a purpose-built Hospital with option for overnight stay. They also operate out of Noosa Private Hospital.

Dr McManus operates out of Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital and Sunshine Coast Day Surgery.

Dr Jay Wiper operates out of Buderim Private Hospital and Kawana Private Hospital.
