Coastal Plastic Surgery, a Specialised Plastic and Reconstructive clinic was established on the Sunshine Coast in 1999 by Dr Lee Brown.

Dr Theo Birch and Dr Ryan Livingston, both Australian trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons have now joined Coastal Plastic Surgery.

This expansion has resulted in increasing the scope of the practice. As well as all aspects of Cosmetic surgery such as Breast Augmentation, Breast reduction and Abdominoplasty, we can now offer Breast Reconstruction and Head and Neck Reconstruction after Cancer removal, and Hand Surgery and lower limb reconstruction following trauma. Non-surgical treatments are also available at Coastal Plastic Surgery.

More specialists has resulted in reduced waiting times for Skin Cancer treatments.

Dr Brown continues to offer a high standard of care for Skin cancer and Melanoma patients.

Our team is dedicated to offering a welcoming environment in our office located at Birtinya. We will assist you with general enquiries about surgical and non-surgical treatments. We strive to achieve the best results for you by listening to your needs, allowing time for discussions with the doctors and follow up appointments if necessary.  From this, an individual care plan will be developed. This plan considers your specific goals, your expectations and time frame.

Coastal Plastic Surgery takes your personal privacy seriously. We pledge never to make your personal or medical information available to any third party, unless you specifically agree to it. Requested information simply allows us to provide you with better service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do now?

You can phone our clinic and speak with our reception staff to obtain general information regarding any of our services or the procedures that we perform. Alternatively you may wish to send an e-mail to our practice which we can respond to. We do have information packs available to send for our procedures.

How do I make an appointment?

You can create an appointment by phoning the clinic on (07) 5437 9333

At the time of making your appointment you will be asked the reason for your visit. This is important for us to allow appropriate scheduling.

What to bring to your appointment?

A Referral from your doctor:  As the Plastic Surgeons are specialists you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate on most pre-operative consultations. Our staff will be able to advise you at the time of making your appointment whether you will require a referral or not.

Your Medicare, DVA or health fund details

A referral from your GP will usually be valid for 12 months.

A referral from another specialist will only be valid for three months. If your treatment takes longer than three months from the day you are initially seen, you will require a further referral from your specialist or your GP.

Consultation Fee will be required to be paid on the day you are seen by the Doctor.

Before you have been seen, it is not possible for us to ascertain what your condition is going to require for treatment, the duration of this treatment or whether an anaesthetic may be required if you need an operation. For these reasons your surgery is not carried out on the day of your initial consultation.

What do I need to know about my consultation?

You will be required to fill out an information sheet on arrival that will take five minutes or so. Please allow time for this process in your calculation of arrival time.  Photos are also a general requirement of your consultation with our staff and will form part of your clinical record.

Most procedures will have some assistance from Medicare and your health fund. It is important to appreciate that a contract with your health fund is for hospital cover and not medical cover. This does not completely cover medical expenses for many patients. Coastal Plastic Surgery does offer Known gaps scheme if your health fund participates.

Uninsured patients requiring procedures in a private hospital will find that the hospital costs are not reimbursed by Medicare and these will therefore represent out-of-pocket expenses.

After consultation a financial quote will be explained to you.

Where will my operation be performed?

The Surgeons at Coastal Plastic Surgery carry out local anaesthetic in an operating theatre in our clinic. For uninsured patients, procedures under local anaesthetic can be performed in the rooms at a reduced expense compared to operations at a private hospital.

All other procedures with an anaesthetist are carried out at Kawana Private Hospital in Birtinya which is a purpose built Hospital with option for overnight stay.
